Hacienda Jalisco Review: A Local Mexican Favorite in Cape Coral
As soon as you walk through the doors of Hacienda Jalisco, you feel as though you are transported into a beautiful Mexican village filled with vibrant culture. Right at the entrance, there’s a charming fountain adorned with lush foliage and the calming sound of trickling water. The base of the fountain is decorated with pebbles and a figurine of a rancher and a donkey.
The restaurant also features a custom bench that reads “Hacienda Jalisco” with a painted landscape of a Mexican pueblo. Dark wooden booths and tables contrast beautifully against the warm yellow-orange walls. Throughout the dining room, colorful murals celebrate Mexican heritage and history. Beside the main dining area is a lively bar featuring colorful tilework and elaborate lighting fixtures, where a bartender is undoubtedly crafting margaritas for guests. The inviting atmosphere makes it easy to see why this has become a popular Mexican restaurant in Cape Coral.
The staff greeted us with complimentary chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. To be honest, Hacienda Jalisco had been on my list for one main reason: the Birria Mania appetizer. While birria is traditionally made with goat or lamb, the American version often features beef, which is what Hacienda Village serves. The meat is slow-cooked until tender and packed with flavor without being overly spicy. It’s seasoned with a variety of spices and rehydrated chiles, but what really sets it apart is the consommé.
The consommé is a rich, red broth that the meat cooks in, and it makes the perfect dipping sauce for anything birria. The Birria Mania appetizer includes mini birria tacos topped with cilantro and onions, birria flautas, and birria nachos. It also comes with consommé, guacamole, and a green dipping sauce. The portion is more than generous, making it one of the standout Mexican appetizers on the menu. The flautas were perfectly crispy and paired wonderfully with the fresh guacamole.

Choosing an entrée was the difficult part because the menu at Hacienda Jalisco is massive. It features fajitas, molcajetes, house specialties, seafood, burritos, enchiladas, tacos, rice dishes, and much more. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, you’ll find no shortage of options.
We asked our server for recommendations, and she immediately suggested the burritos. I ordered the Burrito Bandera, which includes your choice of protein, grilled onions, rice, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, and avocado. The kitchen tops it with cheese sauce, red sauce, and green sauce.
If something is covered in cheese sauce, you can always count me in. I requested only the cheese sauce and chose steak as my protein. The steak burrito was generously filled, and the cheese sauce was incredibly thick, rich, and cheesy. It was perfect for a cheese lover like me. It ended up being my favorite bite of the night, so our server’s recommendation was spot on. The presentation was also surprisingly impressive, which isn’t something you can typically say about a burrito.

We also tried the Coctel de Camarón, which is essentially Mexican shrimp cocktail. It arrived in a large goblet filled with cold, plump shrimp in a sweet tomato-based sauce with fresh cucumbers, onions, cilantro, and avocado. It was refreshing and made for the perfect summer dish. My dining companion declared it his favorite bite of the evening.
Of course, we also wanted to sample the tacos. I was especially excited to try the Hacienda Tacos since they share the restaurant’s name. They were topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, avocado, and grilled onions, and we chose shrimp as the protein. What I wasn’t expecting was a soft flour tortilla wrapped inside a crispy tortilla. For me, it was simply too much tortilla in each bite and overpowered the filling.

To finish the meal, our wonderful server suggested dessert, and we couldn’t resist. We ordered the churros stuffed with strawberry sauce and drizzled with caramel and chocolate. The kitchen served them with whipped cream, and they arrived hot and fresh. They were delicious, but definitely not for the faint of heart. Between the cinnamon sugar and multiple sauces, they’re incredibly sweet.
One of the best parts of the evening was the outstanding service. Our server was extremely patient while we took our time navigating the extensive menu. She offered excellent recommendations and made sure we always had everything we needed. The staff brought our food quickly, cleared our empty dishes promptly, and refilled our drinks before we had to ask. Experiences like this help Hacienda Jalisco stand out among Cape Coral restaurants.
If you know a cheese lover, it’s your duty to take them to Hacienda Jalisco for a cheese sauce-covered burrito or chimichanga. It’s ooey-gooey, indulgent, and absolutely memorable. Whether you’re craving authentic Mexican food or searching for a reliable Cape Coral Mexican restaurant, Hacienda Jalisco is well worth a visit. You’ll find it on Candia Street in South Cape Coral.
