Siam Hut Thai Restaurant: Authentic Thai Food in Cape Coral

Siam Hut Thai Restaurant: Authentic Thai Food in Cape Coral

We went to Cape Coral’s oldest restaurant, Siam Hut Thai Restaurant. This family-owned restaurant has been serving traditional Thai cuisine since 1984. Originally, Toy and Somnuk Bangthamai opened the restaurant. Today, their son, Toon Bangthamai, operates it.

When you walk into Siam Hut, you don’t feel like you’re in Southwest Florida anymore! Instead, it feels like you are in Thailand. The decor, elaborate tablecloths, and wallpaper all add to the experience. We were quickly greeted and brought to our table.

Sweet Thai Tea and Appetizers

We started with a sweet Thai iced tea with cream. We enjoyed it because it wasn’t overly sweet like many Thai iced teas can be. It was creamy, refreshing, and a great way to start our meal.

Marissa told me to take the reins on ordering because she wasn’t very familiar with Thai food. Eating Thai food was a regular occurrence for me when I lived in NYC. Because of that, I felt more than comfortable taking over when it came to ordering.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. The Thai food in NYC was so authentic, and I hadn’t been able to find anything in Southwest Florida that even compared. Siam Hut was truly the game changer I wasn’t expecting. The restaurant matched the quality of Thai food I could get in NYC.

We started with the combination appetizer. It came with Siam rolls, fried chicken wontons, fried Thai toast with chicken, and chicken wings. It also came with plum sauce for dipping and a fresh cucumber and carrot salad.

Our favorite item was the Siam rolls. They were very crispy and stuffed with vegetables. When you dipped them in the plum sauce, it made for the perfect bite. The wings had a nice flavor, although we thought they were a little dry.

A Facebook Recommendation Leads Us to Tom Yum Goong

Before we went to Siam Hut, Marissa made a post on Facebook asking our Cape Coral Reviewed community for their recommendations and go-to dishes at the restaurant.

We have to say, you really pulled through for us!

One of you recommended the Tom Yum Goong. This flavorful soup comes with plump shrimp, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, mushrooms, and chili paste. We ordered it mild because neither one of us likes anything too spicy.

Even though we chose the mild version, the soup was packed with flavor. It was a great recommendation and one of the Thai dishes we were especially glad our community encouraged us to try.

Pad Thai and Pad See Ew

Our entrees came with a house salad or house soup. The soup had a variety of vegetables and chicken. We got both to try, and they were excellent.

Now, for the entrees!

We had almost a dozen Facebook comments recommending the Chicken Pad Thai. So, we felt it was our duty to order it. This classic Thai dish comes with thin rice noodles, egg, and ground peanuts.

The noodles were nice and saucy, and the flavors were incredible. There was a nice little tang to each bite. Plus, the peanuts added a satisfying texture that elevated the dish.

We also got the Shrimp Pad See Ew because this is one of my go-to dishes whenever I visit a Thai restaurant. It’s another noodle dish, but it is completely different from Pad Thai.

The noodles are wider and have a bouncier texture. The dish also includes broccoli, egg, and black soy sauce. As a result, it has a saltier and more savory flavor.

Marissa preferred the Pad See Ew to the Pad Thai, but I honestly couldn’t decide! Usually, I’m not a huge Pad Thai fan. However, I kept going back for more at Siam Hut.

Beef Stir-Fry and Fried Rice

Lastly, we got a beef stir-fry with fried rice, carrots, zucchini, cabbage, and a ginger-garlic sauce.

The presentation was so fun! The fried rice was formed into a star shape on the dish. We mixed everything together so we could get beef, rice, and vegetables in each bite.

We liked how the vegetables were cooked al dente. They weren’t too soft, but they weren’t too hard either. The ginger-garlic sauce paired perfectly with the dish and brought all of the flavors together.

After trying several different Thai dishes, we were impressed by the variety and quality of everything we ordered.

Friendly Service and Authentic Thai Food

Not only was our meal spectacular at Siam Hut, but the service was as well. Our server, Michelle, was very attentive and even packed our leftovers up for us.

Between the food, atmosphere, and service, Siam Hut quickly became one of our favorite Cape Coral restaurants for Thai food. If you’re searching for authentic Thai food in the area, this family-owned restaurant is worth adding to your list.

Siam Hut is located at 4521 Del Prado Blvd S. Whether you’re a Thai food fan or have never had Thai food before, you need to add this restaurant to your rotation.

We can’t wait to go back!
