A Small Downtown Cape Coral Restaurant with Big Greek Flavor

Located in downtown Cape Coral, The Greek Spot may be small in size, but it delivers big on flavor and authenticity. Inside, you’ll find just a couple of tables, while additional sidewalk seating outside gives it a charming, European café feel — perfect for enjoying Cape Coral’s downtown energy.

From the moment you walk in, the aromas tell you everything you need to know. The gyro spits are spinning, shaving fresh meat to order for their famously overstuffed gyros. This is the kind of place where the food does the talking.

A True Family-Owned Greek Restaurant in Cape Coral

One detail we loved: the family story printed on the back of the menu. It’s a reminder that this isn’t just another restaurant — it’s a family-owned Greek business, rooted in tradition and pride.

The paper menu proudly advertises “Best Gyro” and “Best New Restaurant,” and after tasting the food, we understand why. While deciding which gyro to order, you can even brush up on your Greek 101, adding a fun and authentic touch to the experience.

You Can’t Skip the Flaming Greek Cheese

When a Greek restaurant offers flaming cheese (saganaki), there’s only one correct answer: yes.

The experience alone is worth it — the cheese is covered in brandy, ignited tableside, and served with fresh pita. The flames are impressive, but the flavor is what steals the show. Salty, rich, and perfectly melty, it pairs beautifully with the warm pita and sets the tone for the rest of the meal.

What We Ordered at The Greek Spot

Gyros with fries from The Greek Spot in downtown Cape Coral.

For our visit, we went all in on the gyros:

  • Authentic Pork Gyro (the traditional Greek style)
  • Beef & Lamb Gyro (the American classic)
  • Chicken Souvlaki

Each dish was served on a warm pita, layered with vibrant red tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, and house-made tzatziki sauce. For those with dietary preferences, they also offer a vegan tzatziki option, which is a thoughtful and welcome touch.

Pork Gyro (The Greek Way)

In Greece, pork is the traditional gyro meat, and The Greek Spot stays true to that tradition. This gyro came loaded with flavor and it was absolutely filling.

Beef & Lamb Gyro

Overflowing with tender, well-seasoned meat, this gyro is everything fans of the classic American-style gyro hope for. Juicy, savory, and generously portioned.

Chicken Souvlaki

The chicken was marinated beautifully, grilled to perfection, and packed with fresh Mediterranean flavors. Light, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any option we tried — each one stood out in its own way.

Greek Desserts Worth Saving Room For

Even though we were already full, we couldn’t pass up dessert. We tried the baklava and the cheesecake baklava, and we’re glad we did.

While these desserts aren’t made in-house, The Greek Spot is transparent about sourcing them from a Greek bakery in Greektown / Tarpon Springs — widely known as the Greek capital of Florida and home to the highest Greek population in the state. The quality speaks for itself, and these desserts are the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

Final Thoughts: Don’t Judge This Kitchen by Its Size

Don’t underestimate the food coming out of this small downtown kitchen. The Greek Spot in Cape Coral proves that fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, and family pride make all the difference.

If you’re craving:

  • Authentic Greek gyros in Cape Coral
  • A family-owned restaurant
  • Fresh Mediterranean flavors
  • A unique downtown dining experience

This is a spot you need to try.
