Add: If you’ve been craving authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in Cape Coral, good news—WOW Steakhouse is back! This newly reopened spot serves bold flavors, warm hospitality, and plenty of love on every plate. It’s quickly becoming a must-visit for anyone looking for the best Puerto Rican food in town.
We stopped in for lunch and left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Here’s what to expect:
First Impressions
The restaurant has had a little facelift—fresh paint, a big map of Puerto Rico on the wall, and TVs showing gorgeous aerial shots of the island. It’s not fully finished yet (some booths are still missing tables), but the vibe is cozy and welcoming. Some booths are still missing tables, but the vibe is cozy and welcoming. And honestly? The moment the food started arriving, the fresh smell made us even hungrier!
Service
Our server, Navin, greeted us right away with a big smile and kept that same upbeat energy the whole time. He answered all of our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The service was laid-back but attentive—the kind you want when you’re out to enjoy a good meal. The service is laid-back yet attentive—the kind you want when enjoying a steakhouse in Cape Coral.
The Food
Appetizers we couldn’t resist:
- Tostones (twice fried plantains): Crispy, golden, and perfect with that pink sauce (mayo, ketchup, garlic).
- Chicharrón de Cerdo (fried pork belly): Hot, crunchy little cubes of pork belly. Seasoned just right and not greasy. We shared, but easily could’ve fought over the last bite.
Main dishes (and the real stars):
- Pernil Mofongo: If you’ve never had mofongo, this is the one to try. Garlicky mashed plantains topped with slow-roasted pork shoulder, plus a choice of garlic butter or red Creole sauce. The pork was juicy, tender, and downright addictive. Big portions mean leftovers for lunch tomorrow! This dish is a perfect example of Puerto Rican comfort food.
- Churrasco Mofongo: Grilled skirt steak cooked medium and seasoned beautifully, served over mofongo. Their beef is cut fresh in-house, and you can taste the difference. Definitely one of the Puerto Rican dishes you need to try for a true flavorful experience.
Drinks:
- Fresh Lemonade: Simple, cold, and refreshing.
- Modelo Beer: Always a classic, though Edgard was hoping for Medalla, the go-to Puerto Rican beer. Fingers crossed they add it soon!
Desserts (because we couldn’t leave without them):
- Flan de Queso: Creamy, slightly tangy from the cream cheese, and not overly sweet. Totally hit the spot.
- 69 Artisan Sangria Ice Cream: This was a fun surprise—like Black Raspberry ice cream but with a sangria twist. Light, smooth, and super refreshing.
The Vibe
It’s a sit-down, family-friendly restaurant with a kids’ menu, making it a great spot for casual lunches or family dinners, and the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Price & Value
For the portions you get, the prices are more than fair. The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. And if you’re looking for a deal, don’t miss $5 Mofongo Tuesdays—a steal for anyone wanting the best Puerto Rican food in Cape Coral!
Final Thoughts
One of the best parts of our visit? Meeting Carlos, the owner and chef. He personally came out to say hi, and you can tell how proud he is to bring authentic Puerto Rican dishes back to Cape Coral. The regulars clearly love him too—you could see people light up when he walked out of the kitchen.
Sure, the dining room isn’t totally finished yet and they don’t have a website or online menu right now. Still, these are growing pains, not deal breakers. The food speaks for itself—and loudly.
Would we go back? Absolutely. Between the mofongo, the warm service, and the chance to support a local spot bringing authentic Puerto Rican comfort food to town, WOW Steakhouse is already on our “favorites” list.
👉 Bottom line: Come hungry, bring friends, and get the mofongo. Trust us—you’ll leave happy (and probably with a takeout box).
