Sun Splash Family Waterpark Review: A Summer Must-Visit in Cape Coral
When the Southwest Florida heat is in full force, there’s one question every family starts asking: “How can we stay cool today?”
For many Cape Coral locals, the answer is Sun Splash Family Waterpark. Whether you’re racing down water slides, floating the lazy river, catching waves at Paradise Cove, or relaxing in a shaded cabana, it’s the kind of place where you can spend an entire day making summer memories without leaving town.

If you’re searching for things to do in Cape Coral with kids, this park deserves a spot at the top of your list. We recently spent the day exploring everything Sun Splash has to offer, and it’s easy to see why families return year after year.
Paradise Cove Makes a Big Splash
One of the park’s newest attractions is Paradise Cove, a 12,000-square-foot wave pool that opened in 2025.
Filled with 160,000 gallons of water, Paradise Cove features seven different wave patterns that rotate every 15 minutes, so the experience changes throughout the day. Whether you’re staying near the shore with younger kids or heading farther out to catch the bigger waves, it’s quickly become one of the park’s most popular attractions.
The area also features a massive 16-foot HD video screen and entertainment stage, where Sun Splash hosts Dive-In Movies and other special events throughout the season, adding even more family entertainment during your visit.
The Lazy River Is Still My Favorite
As much fun as the wave pool is, you’ll usually find me floating the lazy river.
Unlike many waterparks, Sun Splash’s lazy river winds around much of the park. It offers the perfect place to slow down, cool off, and take a break between attractions. Every visit includes at least a few laps around the park, and it’s one of those attractions the whole family can enjoy together.
Attractions for Every Age
Whether you’re chasing thrills or just looking to cool off, Sun Splash has something for everyone.

The park features exciting water slides for older kids, teens, and adults. Meanwhile, younger children have dedicated splash zones complete with interactive water features, smaller slides, shallow play areas, and giant tipping buckets designed just for them. No matter the age, it’s easy for everyone in your group to find a favorite attraction.
As a water park in Cape Coral, Sun Splash offers experiences that appeal to both thrill seekers and families with young children.
Why I Recommend Renting a Cabana
If you’re planning to spend the entire day at Sun Splash, I highly recommend renting a cabana.
Located throughout the park, cabanas include shade, a locker, two lounge chairs, a table, and additional seating. They give your group a comfortable home base between rides.
Personally, I always reserve one of the cabanas in the sandy section. It gives me beach vibes while still being centrally located, making it easy for everyone in our group to head off in different directions and meet back up throughout the day.
Food & Season Pass Tips
One thing to know before you arrive: outside food and drinks aren’t permitted inside the park. You’ll want to plan on eating at the concession stand during your visit.
We sampled several menu items while we were there. The pizza and breadsticks were surprisingly good, and the chicken tenders with waffle fries were exactly what you’d expect for a day at the waterpark. I wasn’t crazy about my chicken wrap, which was a little dry and cold. Next time, I’d skip that and order the burger or hot dog instead.

If you’re looking to cool off, the Tiki Hut Bar is a nice bonus for the adults. Grab a frozen cocktail, find a shady spot, and I’d say it definitely elevates the experience while the kids keep playing.
If you think you’ll visit more than twice during the season, a season pass is a smart investment. Gold Pass holders receive 20% off food and beverages, along with exclusive weekday perks like discounted cabana rentals and buddy passes to bring friends along.
One insider tip: as the operating season winds down, Sun Splash typically offers discounted pricing on next year’s season passes. If you know your family will be back next summer, it’s one of the best times to buy.
Before You Go
- Arrive early for the best seating.
- Bring sunscreen and water shoes—the pavement gets hot.
- Parking is free.
- Check the event calendar for Dive-In Movies and other seasonal events.
- Consider renting a cabana if you’re planning to spend the entire day.
